blog information

We are nearing the end of another school year yeah I love summer time and still being out of work I can spend the summer home with the kids.

After being laid off at work my friend talked me into to starting a blog about the daily struggles that face me and the family with Jaren's disease I am not very good at keeping up with blogs but this one is almost like a journal type thing and when I get frustrated I can go type on the blog and vent, I also want it to be a tool to educate people and raise awareness about metachromatic leukodystrophy. If you would like to take a look, the web address for it is www.dailystruggleswithmld.blogspot.com. Let me know what you think. I feel that the more people know about this disease the better.

update on the Gordon's

I haven't updated for a long time so I thought I would take a minute and catch everyone up on our lives.
Jaren is doing ok everyday brings new challenges for him and for me. I was laid off work last month it was devastating at first and now I realize it was a blessing in disguise. I have been able to be home more and enjoy my family. Jaren is to a point now where he should not be left alone and losing my job made me realize that. The kids have excelled in school since I have been out of work and they are so much happier.
A couple of weeks ago we were able to go on a mother/son father/daughter date it was so much fun. Jaren and the girls went and saw Princess and the Frog and Jaren said it reminded him a lot of his mission it was based in Louisiana. Braxton and I were able to go to the Nickelcade and he really enjoyed playing games with me.

we moved!!

As many of you know we have moved finally, with Jaren not being able to work anymore we needed a bigger place the 2 bedroom was getting to little. We were able to find a house in the same neighborhood, same friends for the kids same ward, it has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I will post pictures later. We have really enjoyed it, it is nice to be able to spread out a little bit. The kids all have their very OWN room and we have enough rooms for a toy room WOW we are spoiled. My kids have enjoyed their new freedom they are hardly ever home they are riding bikes with friends or at friends houses. Thank you to everyone that helped make it possible, thanks for boxes and tape guns and the elders quorum in our ward that were so willing to help move us. We still haven't unpacked everything it will probably take awhile since I have been unpacking when I have time, (which I don't have a lot of). I figure if I at least unpack one box at a time it will get done but slowly. Thanks to those who helped unpack my kitchen and food so that I could cook and have dishes to eat on.

First Day of School!!

We made it through the summer and the kids started school. RaKelle started 5th grade Ashlyn started 3rd grade, and my baby (don't tell him I called him that) starts Kindergarten on Thursday. I can't believe how fast they grow up all of my kids will be in school now. They really enjoyed the first week, they aren't fighting to get up in the morning yet. I also started another semester of school on Wednesday, I am taking English 1010 and a music class. It will be interesting this semester they are both online classes and I have to log onto to the English class every Monday morning at 7 for a live chat. Hopefully I can do my chat and try to get everyone ready in the morning, we shall see wish me luck.

After Ashlyn's oral surgery

After Ashlyn had her 2 front teeth placed back in her mouth a week later she was smiling again. She was such a trooper she didn't even complain at all I am glad she got better she looked miserable. Luckily it all happened before school started. She was really mad because the dentist wouldn't let her play soccer she was furious. We got her a mouth guard so now she can play again and she was very happy about that.

Ashlyn's accident

What a summer!! Ashlyn was coming in for dinner about 3 weeks ago and fell getting off of her bike and did a faceplant into the cement knocked out her two front (permanent) teeth and bit right through her lip, she was bleeding a lot because it was a mouth owie, her friend handed me her teeth and asked if Ashlyn was ok and left. She was freaking out because she didn't want to go to the dentist. I couldn't get a hold of her dentist so we went up to Primary Childrens Hospital and they called in the on call dentist. He was excellent and she was so brave. He made her feel so comfortable, now we have dentist appointments every 3 to 4 months for root canals for the next 2 years because her teeth fell all the way out and didn't break we put them in milk shortly after they fell out and that is what saved them. Lesson #1 if your teeth fall out put them in milk. She was miserable for about a week she is doing much better now and she even got back on her bike the other day and rode it around.
